All purely hypothetically, of course

Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini and Clara PetacciVia the Atomic Deathray tonight I learn that one President of the United States of America, a Mister George W Bush, allegedly said the following in the Oval Office to Congressional leaders in a discussion about renewing the Patriot Act:

Stop throwing the Constitution in my face. It’s just a goddamned piece of paper! George W Bush as reported by Capitol Hill Blue

If, and I mean only if, he actually said this, let’s consider something.

The office of the Presidency has only one important empowering document. Only one document created the office, gives it legitimacy, and makes it legal.

Therefore, if that document is just a goddamned piece of paper, there is no President. Any person then holding power, commanding weapons able to wipe millions out in hours, starting wars, sending American soldiers to die for no demonstrable reason… well, that man, and even his female companion, wouldn’t have any legal standing whatsoever. That man would on the contrary be the greatest criminal in America and a threat to the world because without the Constitution to box him in, he’d be nothing but a dictator in command of the most destructive forces the world has ever known. That man—if the document in question has no value—would, simply put, have to go.
