I prefer not to think that we’ve just spent nearly $1,000 on a partial and temporary solution to a horrifying plumbing issue that came with the problem infested 89 year-old house but that we’ve made $30 in cash back bonus bucks from our credit card.

Plumbing woes make me ill and panicky. I don't want to get carried away or anything, but when plumbing is gone so is any pretense at civilization. The next stage is zombie cannibal orgies and mass death through typhoid. $30 is not to be sneered at, I guess, and may buy enough ammunition to keep the zombies at bay for a while. So there's that much to be positive about.

And that’s a fact. Soap and running water are the only things that separate us from apes. Soap is the only thing that separates us from dolphins. And harpoons. That sort of widens the gap.

According to one fellow I met, who claimed to have been in the French Foreign Legion, the harpoons are mostly for "articulating our position in the human/cetacean dichotomy". He suggested that only creatures who have done something wrong need fear their other uses.

That’s wonderful and even if it’s not a true story I’ll fight any man, woman, or child who says otherwise.

Moo

I almost wrote, “Except for HIM.” I have no illusions. The day when I had a chance of taking you is long gone. I am getting pretty good at an isosceles shooting stance though.

I just got done with some design work for the local P.D. and got a chance at their range. They have some spooky stuff! I'm finishing up a few things for the bomb squad now and they said they'll take me out in July to participate in a demo - not in a Soprano's sort of way...

Let go your tritium sights, Luke

That’s great. There’s a shooting school down in Oregon I’m going to try to visit. They offer their one-day intro/safety class for free. If I like them I’m going to maybe pop for a tactical class, etc. I’m going to write it all up if I do. I saw the requirements to be a master shooter, or whatever the title is. It’s fucking crazy. Like 6 through the center ring at 10 yards in 2 seconds from your holster kind of stuff (that’s a paraphrase, I don’t remember real reqs but they were tight like that). I don’t think I could ever get there but I’d like to be a lot more comfortable/expert with weapons since the house if full of bystanders at this point.

If they only wanted me to bull’s-eye a womp-rat in my T-16 I could qualify now.
