I've taken to being solicitous of the bees I see. The spread of colony collapse unnerved me (even knowing that many of the stories about it were bogus).

I love them. Except for the pointlessly aggressive ones like yellow-jackets. I didn’t follow the news on the European honey-bees (I don’t personally get too upset when introduced species have problems; and the chicken little, wolf’s at the gate routine wore me out years ago) but I did notice that it did not have any effect on bees in my native New Mexico.

This is my favorite shot so far. The picture is deceptive. That’s a tiny bee.

That little bee is a beauty. If I were a conservative insect, I might accuse your photos of deliberately exciting prurient interest.

Me too, or neither. The apocalypse already happened. What changes from time to time is people are too swamped or too tired to hold parts of it back.
