Happy Holidays Merry Christmas!
Friday, 21 December 2007
Being rather irreligious makes this time of year difficult. Not because I’m against Christmas. I’m not. Not in the slightest. I love it. But then I don’t want the joy I take from it or my general participation in the rituals to implicitly lend my support to Christianity. At the same time I cannot bring myself to stoop to anything like, “Happy Holidays,” to keep it at arm’s length. That’s just weak.
So, how to strike a balance between endorsing the holiday but not the religious aspects. I think I finally found a delicately nuanced middle ground.
That should prevent some misunderstandings.

This is perhaps, in 15 years, one of the funniest things you've done (not counting the times I've seen you naked).
Have a bountiful Kwanzaa bitches!

Today's Bizarro comic made me chuckle: two people passing each other on a street: "Merry nothing!" says one, "Same to you!" the other. It was captioned "Atheist Christmas".

This brings joy to my heart Ashley. I too love the solstice festivities. And now you've provided the nuance with which to baste any geese (or ducks) that need it.

This is exactly why I love Christmas so much. Look at all the warmth my simple post returned to me. :)
