Hysteria is the mother of invention and the step-dad of molesting your so-called values

I know people who still avoid going to Exxon gas stations because of that tragedy. Exxon Valdez Anniversary: Take Action Today

Today is the 20th anniversary of the Exxon Valdez oil spill.

Both the long- and short-term effects of the oil spill have been studied comprehensively. Thousands of animals died immediately; the best estimates include 250,000 to as many as 500,000 seabirds… Exxon Valdez oil spill

Terrible. Outrageous. Action must be taken. There must never be another!

And what if I were to tell you that that same year there was another disaster which killed between 1,000,000,000 and 8,000,000,000—that's one to eight billion—birds. And did so every year since for a total estimated minimum of 20,000,000,000—twenty billion—dead birds and maybe a figure approaching a trillion. A figure certain to trump it if we waltz back enough years since this didn’t start in 1989. An ongoing biological disaster that eclipses the Valdez’s leaking hull by a factor of hundreds.

Would you even care? Or would you keep letting your house cats outside every day while boasting about where you don’t buy your gas?

You people and your fucking priorities—never the twain shall meet.
