The view from this desk

Monday, 12 November 2007

I start a new job today. Full telecommute, meaning the view from this desk is the view from this desk.

Great blue heron on Thornton creek, Seattle

They’re paying me a lot of money to work with code I adore from the place I’ve waited most of my life to live. You’d better fucking believe I’m going to make sure I’m worth every penny and then some.

Ya, I meant "fortunate". The "bastard" still applies, though.

Don’t worry. Something terrible will happen to me eventually—God can’t let me go unpunished forever and the Devil’s paperwork is heavy but even he will realize he hasn’t received payment for my ___________ ____—and then everyone will be happy.

Wonderful! I hope this gig lasts a good while (or as long as needed, whichever works better for you). What a spendid view you have. I get blissed just looking at the picture. You, fortunate fellow, get to actually be right there.

Re: The view from this desk

I'd never get any work done with such a view.

Re^2: The view from this desk

Well, the picture is from earlier in the year, though a heron was there the morning I posted it, apparently he was trying to poach a tired salmon if he could. I didn’t see any but Veri says she saw one jumping up the weirs.

Anyway, winter in Seattle tends to keep one at the computer or PlayStation anyway.
