I don’t think most of you even know, in spite of Hollywood’s flaccid, glitter encrusted efforts, that the Earth is potentially a couple of months away from being half-destroyed by an asteroid. Constantly.
The sun could pull some trick and burn the Earth to a cinder with less warning.
Just one giant volcanic eruption could make half the planet dark for weeks, even years.
We live at the whim of a capricious universe which only appears stable due to the enormous time spans involved and the limited brain power wallowing in its tepid, disinterested grace.
